The Permian Basin is experiencing significant growth and development. This year's Chapter Annual Meeting focuses on identifying and overcoming challenges created by this environment. From our keynote speaker through the technical panels and presentations, Chapter members will recieve insights and tools applicable to their midstream roles and workplace.

Colonel Michael J. Flatten
Director - Air Force Wounded Warrior Program
Colonel Michael J. Flatten is Director, Air Force Wounded Warrior Program, Air Force Personnel Center. He oversees a staff of 143 personnel supporting over 4000 active Wounded Warriors. The Wounded Warrior Program advocates and supports wounded, ill, and injured airmen and their caregivers from initial entry into the program, through return to duty or transition from service.
Col Flatten graduated from Texas A&M University’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program and received his Air Force commission in 1993. He entered the Combat Control training pipeline in 1998 and acquired advanced skills as a certified Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), freefall and master static line parachutist and combat diver. He directed specialized missions during the initial stages of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and was the Special Tactics lead planner at the onset of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He has served in various assignments and commanded the 22nd Special Tactics Squadron. Prior to assuming his current assignment, he was Vice Commander, 24th Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Florida.

Technical Panel #1: Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Challenges in Permian Development and Operations
I&E and Controls touches every aspect of midstream facilities and roles. From PLC to VFD to big data and analytics, this panel will cover the gammit of struggles and solutions facing everyone: operations, maintenance, new construction and the business development and management dependent on the data collected and distributed through control systems.

Infrastructure Update: "Taming Fury Road"
Highway infrastructure is a key component to supporting midstream operations in the Permian. Safety is first and foremost for personnel traveling these roads.
Gene Powell, TXDOT's Public Information Officer, will provide an overview and update of are TXDOT road and highway improvement projects.
Technical Panel #2: Identifying and Solving Training and Education Challenges in Permian Oil & Gas
A skilled workforce is fundamental to sucess. The Permian continues to face challenges in both the size of the available workforce, and ensuring the workforce is trained in the skills needed to support midstream operations in the Permian. The Training and Education panel brings together local and professional educators and trainers to tackle this challenge.
